Get help to help her
You just found out that you might be responsible for a pregnancy. You may feel like you don’t want to or need to deal with the decision that is made about the pregnancy. Are you telling her “I’ll support whatever you decide” thinking that’s what she wants to hear? You may actually be communicating something completely different to her.
These three ideas will help both of you get through this time and make informed decision about the future.
- Assure her that she is not alone and that you will be there for her.
- Try to understand her fears and admit you have fears too.
- Get help from a trusted source to verify the pregnancy and provide education about your options.
It’s important to slow down and take one step at a time.
For this reason, Choices Women’s Center has been helping couples navigate their pregnancy decisions since 1988.
Many times women think they may be pregnant at the first symptom of pregnancy without taking a test. Or they take a pregnancy test at home which can give false positive or negative results. At this point, she needs a medical pregnancy test and an ultrasound to see if she is really pregnant or not. We can provide that QUICKLY, FREE and CONFIDENTIAL.
